How we got here.

This is Joel Jackson, JDV Booking Director, and this page is going to be written in the first person.  Because ‘how we got here’ is my own authentic story, and it's personal.

I’ve been an event industry professional for over 20 years, having bookended selling private event spaces and production at the Contemporary Arts Center New Orleans:   first in the late 90’s/ early aughts, and again beginning in 2017.

In the years between, I sold and produced video art installations for private events in the Tourism & Convention industry for Spitball Media, a creative services agency I co-founded and operated.  We designed and produced Projection Mapping, Interactive Media & Experiential Media Environments within the live event space.  With Spitball Media,  I also produced marketing videos for the music promoters responsible for the Bonnaroo Music Festival and San Francisco’s Outside Lands Music Festival.  I always gravitated towards music when the opportunities arose.

To that end, concurrent with Spitball Media and with a second small business I founded- The Miles Ahead Agency-  I sold corporate sponsorships in the live music event space for music promoters in the Pacific Northwest, for venues ranging from 5,000 to 8,000 capacity, as well as a handful of festivals.  For about a dozen years.

On a personal note, rewinding back to 1994 and prior to the aforementioned professional experiences: I moved to New Orleans because of music.  Period. My family couldn’t have been pleased. I was passionate about New Orleans music. I was curious. I remain both passionate and curious to this day about what is one of the pillars that comprise the New Orleans culture I hold dear.

JDV Booking is the culmination of a career working in the event industry, alongside a life of listening to live New Orleans music.
